Where’s my ring?

Oh look! It’s back on my finger!

The jeweler did an awesome job of making it a size and a quarter bigger and soldering it back together. They even did scrollwork on the new section and you can only tell if you look really closely. The new scrollwork is slightly different than the old and the new gold is a little bit different color. . And it’s all shiny and pretty again.

The price though to fix it is about the same as the cost of the ring 30 years ago.

Oh well.

Space Available…

Anyone out there want to go on vacation with us? Prefer younger, fun-loving, person, with better than average personal hygeine. Must enjoy sitting in the car for an endless amount of time, using outdoor facilities, and sleeping in a less than luxurious environment. But the scenery is incredible.
All you have to do is put up with us for 2 weeks. This would include crabbiness, emotional outburts, and occasional temper tantrums. You’ll likely be covered with dog hair and if you’re unlucky enough to be stuck in the back seat, you’ll get a huge headache and be sea sick from the squeaky spring. Food would include fatty, salt-laden fast food anywhere we can find it along the way. But again the scenery and card playing are abundant.

Come on, you know you want to go.

Our guest has backed out (parents can be such a pain). And it’s quite possible that the 3 of us could kill each other if left alone.

One more time….

So I show up at my rehab appointment just as the tornado siren is going off and the radio said there’s a tornado on the ground just south of Rib Mountain. Yeah! What do I do now?
Stupid part is people are just walkin’ around like nothin’ s happenin’.
So I run into the rehab class just to see what’s going on. I’m told if I stay I have to go to a room with no windows with all the old people. I decide to go back home…in the direction of the possible funnel clouds/tornado. On the highway everyone is driving about 75 mph and the sky just south of the mountain isn’t looking too good. It was a lovely shade of black and blue.
After I get on the exit ramp the tornado siren goes off again. Instant panic attack. I made it home. Run into the house, gather up the tornado supplies and pups again, and hustle to the basement. Geez, you’d think I’d have all the supplies together in one place by now, wouldn’t you?
Once again grabbing the car keys and checkbook. Like who am I gonna write a check to in a tornado? Downstairs, Aaron’s taking a shower and oblivious to the whole thing.
You know the outcome, we spent an hour in the basement and nothing happened. And of course, another round possible today.

PS. Veggie burgers really suck!

Just another summer day…

Tornado warning in progress…but the siren isn’t going off yet. So we’re ok…so far!
It’s probably a good idea to get flashlights, etc. together ahead of time. Gotta go…

Update…

Not much happened. A little wind, lots of lightning. We spent 30 minutes in the basement with 2 bewildered dogs and a cat and all of our important belongings. We always take things like car keys with us. But if the tornado levels our car, why would we need the keys?

And the good news is, according to weather reports, we get to go through it all again tomorrow!

FF continued….

I think I’ve managed to improve on the grilled cheese from yesterday. Just take off the tomato.

That is all.
