Racoon update…..

So Mommy racoon and her 4 babies have safely been relocated to a marshy area near Stevens Point. The 1st night the mommy racoon managed to undo the trap door to the cage on top of the chimney and escape back down into the chimney. Smart racoon and extremely dedicated to the babies! The guy had to come back and put a new trap door on the cage and assured me there was no way for her to escape again. Last night worked and she was still in the cage this morning. Unfortunately she had to endure a rainstorm last night.

So after taking racoon and cage off the roof, he took the babies out through the damper in the fireplace. Yeah, the guy is standing on the roof with a net on a long pole and the babies start dropping out of the fireplace damper.  They were kinda cute. about half the size of Digby. And they growl, sounded like a  bobcat kind of growl. When mommy and babies were reunited (in cages, of course) in the driveway it was kinda touching because they looked so happy to see each other. Ok, but they do have really long, sharp-lookin’ claws.  All the while the dogs aren’t the least bit interested in the racoons, they were more interested in the racoon guy, that’s probably how they managed to last so long undetected in the chimney.

Let this be a lesson. Cap the freakin’ chimney!

ETA:  Apparently racoons do not like “Battlestar Galactica” ….

Just stuff….

Is there a hair dresser out there that actually knows how to cut hair? I’ve gotten 3 haircuts in the last  6 weeks I think. Each time trying to fix the previous haircut.  Today’s hair dresser said “oh yeah I can fix that.” I guess the point being that there should not have been anything to fix, since I just got a cut 3 weeks ago. At the same place by the way. She said the last person cut the layers with the angle going in the wrong direction, thus causing my hair to bunch out at the side in a kind of cone shape. Partly my fault I suppose, because I didn’t let them dry it last time.  But that’s a whole new story… because when they do dry it they make me look like a poodle.

Pet peeve of the week…..

Bank tellers. This happens every time I go to the bank.  Different banks even. Drive-up… lobby…same thing every time.  The teller will say to me “Do you want to deposit these checks?”  as I hold out my deposit slip and my checks endorsed with “for deposit only”  after I have said “I’d like to deposit these please”.  End of story.

…test

I really have to check in a little more often here. There are 400 comments sitting there. Granted most of them are advertising for porn sites, but 1 was a real comment from 4 months ago.  perhaps I can come up with some witty, entertaining stuff.

Just know that there is an out of the way shoe store on the way home from Iowa. And if Caesar didn’t need to be picked up on time, I would be the owner of new shoes. The Shoe Box, route 87 or 78 or whatever. Advertises themselves as the midwest’s largest shoe store. Next time.  I will  have shoes!

….No Title…

If anyone is still reading this….I’m still alive. I survived the plane ride and the in-laws. But we still have those 2 free tickets and I was just noticing there are $80.00 a night hotel rooms in San Fransisco in January. So…..anyone up for San Fran in mid winter?

In other news, I was hoping the evil employer had finished resurfacing the parking lot while I was gone. But that didn’t happen…so maybe I should parachute in to work.

Only 1 more day left…..

….and then we have to go back to reality. It’s been the coldest, rainiest, vacation here in a long time. All of the trails are soggy and mucky making it hard to even walk around. But in the good news category, there is plenty of water to take a shower and flush the toilet even .
Went fishing. Caught some red fish, and pollack. Also caught some little baby cod that we had to throw back. Also saw whales so that was good. We got a combination whale watching/fishing trip.
Now I’m just waiting for the sun to come out so the wet laundry will dry. Hopefully!
