Why is it so difficult to wash the dishes?

Once upon a time I watched the news. Oh…my dishwasher has been recalled! I’d better call the company. 3 weeks later repair parts arrive. 2 weeks after that a repairman shows up. He installs the repair parts. The dishwasher doesn’t work. He proclaims that the repair parts are defective and calls the company for replacement repair parts. 3 weeks later the 2nd set of parts shows up. 2 weeks later a new repairman shows up. He puts the new replacement parts in and still the dishwasher does not work. He proclaims that the 1st set of parts was not defective at all but a different part was needed and that repairman number 1 did not know what he was doing. He calls the company and orders a new different part. 3 weeks later the part arrives. 2 weeks later the 2nd repairman comes back. He opens the package and declares that these are the wrong parts. They, in fact had sent the very same parts for a 3rd time. Meanwhile no one had opened the package before the repairman arrived because they were clearly marked “do not open” before repairman arrives. Now we have 3 sets of the same wrong part and the dishwasher has been in pieces the whole time. 3 weeks go by and no word on the “new” parts which have been reordered. Finally the company calls and says they can’t get any more of those parts. Would we take a new dishwasher no charge. Excellent! I say. Yes we’ll take that. 3 weeks go by, no new dishwasher. Call company…they’ll check on it. Actually the dishwasher has been sitting at the dealer for about 2 and a half weeks but they didn’t know who it was for because the company didn’t tell them. Yesterday it was installed. Um….did I mention there was really nothing wrong with the dishwasher before I called about the recall?
Moral: The Maytag repairman is not as lonely as he says he is on TV.
BTW…this is the way our life goes on a daily basis. I can’t even talk about the air conditioner I had bought!
