“Crunch…crunch…crunch…”

That would be the sound of Mutti eating her own words. The employer has decided to grant my request for a leave of absence. Unfortunately after a month of not being there, I don’t know if I actually WANT to be there anymore. We’ll see. That is all!

…just more of the usual..and I’m not even at work…

My employer finally called me the other day. But not to ask how I’m doing or if I’m ok. Rather they called to ask why they haven’t gotten their big wad of forms back yet. Half of them anyway, I sent back the first half already. I said I had delivered them to the doctor but I really didn’t have any control over when the doctor would forward them on. Then I decided to call the doctor and see for myself. The office person told me the “wad” was “sitting in his inbox” and as soon as he got around to it he would sign them. I inquired when that might be. She replied with a cheery voice that she did not know because the doctor had been in surgery saving lives for a few days. I thought this was an excellent answer and I wanted to call “Brad” at my place of employment and give him the same answer. He said he was “doing me a favor” as it is because my wad of forms was overdue by 2 days. Well I wanted to tell Brad something that is totally unprintable here, but I didn’t.

Note to my employer: try a little compassion…it works better than intimidation.

………..

Good news! The bill has arrived for Mutti’s unfortunate surgery. A one day total of $35,700.00. This does not even include the trip to the ER and other miscellaneous doctor appts. But still it doesn’t outdo Aaron at about $52,000.00 for his unfortunate surgery.
So I’ve started cardiac rehab. Yes it sounds like some sort of drug addiction program. My case manager, Nora, (yes, I have my own case manager) is part cheerleader, part nurse, and part personal trainer. We learn how to do exercises, and I’ll be going to health classes. There we’ll be learning about the heart and how to eat better for your heart. Actually it’s not to o bad, the time goes by fast and everyone is really nice. My puter is about to overheat…going now.

2 points of view…..

..1st thanks to all who expressed concern over Mutti’s recent unfortunate hospitalization. I guess there 2 points of view with every story.

Father’s employer sent flowers immediately. My employer sent an envelope full of forms to fill out.
Father’s employer asked if there was anything they could do to help. My employer said there was not much they could do until they got back the big wad of forms filled out.
Father’s employer said take as much time off as you need. My employer said I may not even be entitled to ANY time off until they see the big wad of papers.
People at Father’s employer said “don’t worry. They know what they’re doing at this hospital.”
My employer said they may need a second opinion. Yeah right! Kinda too late!
Father’s employer said everything will be alright.
My employer said “we really don’t have to give you your job back again.”

That is all. And add another $4200.00 to the bill.

$$$$$$$…..

So far we’re up to about $3,696.00 and that’s only my little trip to the walk-in clinic. Can’t wait to see the rest. Insurance will cover most of course, but this seems a bit ridiculous.
